A senior class got to graduate in the sky beside a mountain on a sky lift in New Hampshire. The traditional commencement was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic so instead they took it to Cranmore Mountain. Kennett High School's class of 2020 practiced safe social distancing while students received their degrees at the base of the mountain.
"The response has been awesome," principal Kevin Carpenter told "Good Morning America." "So many of them thought it was going to be a virtual ceremony or no ceremony but to have an in-person ceremony and something so unique, they're excited about it."
One senior, Sophie Stimpson, said the moment really gave her a sense of the community coming together.
"This is honestly probably a cooler way to graduate than just walking across a stage, too," she added.
There were 174 students in total that graduated and family members were able to join them as well.
