The NBA is getting more strict on its rules to prevent the spread of Covid. The league has limited the interactions between players and people who do not live in their household or are involved in team activities.
The league also prohibited players from hugging and giving handshakes, so to enforce the rule it is putting security in the middle of the court before and after games to stop players from doing so.
After witnessing some opposing players disregarding new league rules against unnecessary contact on game nights, the NBA is moving team security into the midcourt area to dissuade violations that include hugging and handshakes, according to a league memo obtained by ESPN on Wednesday.
