You may want to delete your Facebook Messenger app and avoid using it all together because of a delay in a security update.
Apparently, the app is not using end-to-end encryption like WhatsApp, which is reportedly putting privacy and content at risk.
The encryption means no one, not even Facebook would be able to read messages between a sender and their recipient. However, there are concerns that encrypting Messenger would lead to child exploitation going unnoticed, which is why there is a delay in the update.
