Starbucks is making some changes and planning out to phase out its reusable cups by 2025!
Honestly, I am here for this new idea, especially since it's going to help with waste.
"Our cup is ubiquitous, and we love that. But it is also this ubiquitous symbol of a throwaway society," said Michael Kobri, Starbucks chief sustainability officer.
Even though the cups can be recycled the majority of them still end up being thrown away, ending up in landfills.
One of the options Starbucks is considering is a borrow-a-cup-program, where customers pay a deposit for a durable cup they can take with them and drop back off after use.
