A McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant in Leicester is now a coronavirus testing centre after it has been temporarily handed over to a private health company.

DHU Healthcare has started to test key workers on their site, after it closed to customers in March because of the coronavirus outbreak.

A McDonald's spokesperson told LADbible "Last week McDonald's handed over use of its Meridian Business Park Drive-Thru in Leicester for use by DHU Healthcare for Covid-19 testing for NHS workers.”

Fans of McDonalds were hearing that the restaurant would open again in May but there were no confirmed plans of it.

In a recent tweet McDonald’s stated “Well, our notifications are going wild tonight – we miss you too. We promise we will update you here as soon as we have confirmed our plans. Stay safe, stay at home and we will see you soon.”
