Gov. Ducey Allowing Local Governments To Create Own Face Mask Policies

During a news conference Wednesday, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey announced that local governments will be allowed to set their own rules on the use of face masks.

This comes as a large number of healthcare workers across the state called for the governor to make it a statewide requirement to wear masks in public. Ducey said during the press conference that the amount of positive cases and the percentage of positive cases per test varies greatly by city.

Thus, he is leaving it up to local governments to make their own policies on face masks.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego tweeted that the Phoenix City Council would vote on a mandate on the upcoming agenda.
