750 People Allowed Back In State Farm Stadium For Cardinals Game

On Tuesday night, the Arizona Cardinals announced that a small number of fans will be allowed back in State Farm Stadium to watch the team face off against the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Only 750 people will be allowed inside, and the small number will be comprised of family members and close friends of the players, coaches, and staff. All of the fans will be practicing social distancing, according to the team.

The stadium normally hold about 63,400 people, but 750 is the most that Arizona's health department is allowing in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.

State and Maricopa County health officials will be testing "the implementation of health and safety protocols" for future, possibly larger, gatherings. Health Director Dr. Cara Christ told the team, "This can be an important next step for fans safely returning to in-person viewing."

The next home game following Sunday's matchup will be on October 25th. After the game on Sunday, if Arizona reaches ADHS' "minimal" category for COVID-19 spread, there may be more fans allowed inside the stadium to watch the next home game live.

Kickoff against the Detroit Lions will take place on Sunday afternoon at 1:25 p.m.
