Truck Driver Helps Arizona Woman, Her Child Run Away From Abusive Boyfriend

Truck driving on remote road

An unidentified truck driver helped a woman and her daughter get away from an abusive boyfriend, who is now behind bars.

The trucker told Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers that he had never seen anyone so scared for her life than the woman when she ran towards him begging for help earlier this week on the side of State Route 87 on Sunday, according to court documents.

The ordeal started earlier in the evening when the woman got into a fight with her boyfriend Michael Andrew Brock because he wouldn't let her or their 3-year-old daughter leave his Tempe apartment. Brock physically restrained her at times, but she was able to convince Brock to let them go to her father's house in McNary, Arizona.

The woman was driving Brock's car when he allegedly started attacking her. She told deputies that he slapped her and pointed a gun at her head. She tried to stop the car multiple times and flee with her daughter, but Brock threatened to shoot her if they left the vehicle. Court documents say that the woman was scared that Brock would shoot all three of them.

While driving along SR-87, she saw a semi-truck pulled on the side of the road. The woman stopped the car on the road, grabbed her daughter, and ran towards the driver.

She was able to get in contact with authorities, and Brock was taken into custody on Wednesday. Court records indicate that Brock "may have unintentionally told the victim he was going to kill her." Brock was charged with felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, misconduct involving weapons and child abuse.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for possible head trauma and later released.
