Billie Eilish Reveals She Was In A 'Very Emotionally Abusive' Relationship

Billie Eilish will be on the cover of Vanity Fair's March issue, and in addition to the cover story, the 19-year-old was asked a series of increasingly personal questions about topics ranging from identity to fame to family to work, all while a camera slowly crept closer to her.

When faced with the question "When have you felt the most trapped?" Eilish's eyes widened. After a brief pause, she answered: 'When I was in a relationship that was very emotionally abusive." It was clear that the subject made her uncomfortable, and she stuck out her tongue, threw up metal horns, and smiled awkwardly to cope.

The "Therefore I Am" singer has never divulged details about that part of her personal life before; however, during the interview, she revealed that it would be addressed in her upcoming documentary The World's a Little Blurry. “That was a huge part of my life,” Eilish said in the cover story. “And nobody knew it. It was this main thing that was taking control of my life.”

Elsewhere in the "Slow Zoom" interview, Eilish discussed her fears, inspirations, climate change, advice for fans who want to be her, and so much more. Watch the full video above.
