Ye is serious about supporting Sean "Diddy" Combs during his sex trafficking and racketeering trial.
The artist formerly known as Kanye West arrived at the courthouse in Manhattan on Friday morning, June 13, as the 23rd day of Combs' trial got underway. Ye pulled up to court wearing an all-white denim outfit without his wife, Bianca Censori, by his side. Fans and Combs' supporters cheered Ye on as he approached the doors to meet with Christian "King" Combs. The two walked in together during a break in the proceedings. The VULTURES rapper was seen walking out of the courthouse less than an hour after he arrived.
Ye and Censori were spotted in New York City the day before. The couple reportedly attended a graduation while they were in town. CNN reported that the Chicago native got in touch with King Combs and coordinated today's visit with him. Rolling Stone noted that Ye was not added to the official list of Combs’ close family and friends, who are promised reserved seating in the courtroom. It's not clear if Ye ended up in the overflow room with other media outlets and bystanders.
Despite their past differences, Ye has remained one of Combs' few celebrity supporters throughout the trial. During one of his outrageous rants on X earlier this year, Ye said Combs was innocent and advocated for his freedom. He even debuted a Yeezy x Sean John collaboration, sold it online and promised to split the profits with Combs.
"I'm selling the Sean John collaboration that me and my brother spoke about before they locked him up we splitting the profits 50/50," Ye wrote at the time.
"I JUST FOUND OUT THAT PUFF IS NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE OR COLLECT MONEY WHILE HE'S LOCKED UP SO I'MA SEND HIS HALF OF THE MONEY TO JUSTIN," Ye said while referring to Combs' son, Justin.
Combs also thanked Ye for his support via an Instagram post. "Thank you to my brother @Ye YEEZY.COM," he wrote. He also thanked Ye personally during a phone call he had with him from behind bars. Portions of the call were used in Ye's song, “Lonely Roads Still Go To Sunshine," which also featured his daughter North.
“This shit is wicked, wicked, wicked. So you be careful,” Combs said in a recording of the call The Shade Room posted. “I’m Puff Daddy in jail. This shit is f**king sad as a motherf**ker."
Combs was arrested last September on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
