Casandra "Cassie" Ventura wants her former boyfriend Sean "Diddy" Combs to remain behind bars before he's sentenced.
The artist-model submitted a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian on Wednesday, July 2, and asked him to keep Combs locked up because she believes the mogul may retaliate against her. Ventura and her attorney, Douglas Wigdor, allege Combs may "pose a danger to the victims who testified in this case." The "Me & U" singer was one of 34 people who took the witness stand during the trial, and she fears her ex may retaliate against whoever he sees fit.
Ventura isn't the only person who feels this way either. Deonte Nash, a celebrity stylist and a friend of Ventura, also sent a letter to the judge asking him to deny his bail request. He emphasized the danger Combs poses to himself and the others who put themselves out there during the trial.
"Mr. Combs has a long, well-documented history of violent, coercive, and retaliatory behavior," Nash wrote. "Over the years, he has repeatedly escaped meaningful accountability, and each time this has only reinforced his sense of impunity. If he is released now, I have no doubt he will see it as yet another license to continue intimidating, threatening, and harming people who challenge or expose him."
Combs was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution involving his ex-girlfriends, Ventura and "Jane." He was acquitted of racketeering and sex trafficking. The mogul's lawyers have already proposed a bail package to the judge. If freed on bail, Combs would be required to pay a $1 million bond that's co-signed by his mother, Janice Combs, his sister, and the mother of his eldest daughter. He would also have to give up his passport, submit to drug testing, and undergo other pretrial conditions.
Judge Subramanian has scheduled Combs' bail hearing for today at 5 p.m. If his legal team is successful, the convicted artist could be released this evening. His sentencing date has not been set yet.
