Kehlani says they have full custody of their daughter following an intense split from the child's father, Javaughn Young-White.
The "Folded" singer shared the update during her conversation with The Breakfast Club on Monday, December 8. During the chat, Loren LoRosa asked Kehlani if the custody battle was still going on after Young-White accused the California native of being in a cult last year. Kehlani previously called his allegations "incredibly hurtful, inaccurate, inappropriate, and simply untrue."
"I have full custody," they told LoRosa. When asked if there was any contact between the two, they flatly replied, "No."
Last August, Javaughn Young-White alleged their five-year-old daughter, Adeya Nomi, was being cared for by members of a cult. In court documents that were filed, Young-White claimed Adeya was bathed by random adult members of the group and slept in the same bed as them. He also said the child was left alone in the bedroom with the alleged cultists. Young-White claimed his legal documents were incomplete and filed in error by his former counsel. He blamed outlets like TMZ for the "sensationalized" headlines about his claims.
“The TMZ article sensationalized aspects of what was said while simultaneously breaching my confidentiality," Young-White said in a statement. “Further, the filing of my case was incomplete and did not have my authorization by error of counsel. I am no longer represented by the aforementioned counsel. There will be an amended filing soon which will illustrate the full range of my concern.”
“This is a legal, private, familial matter that will be handled accordingly, and I will now be taking space for my own personal well-being and, most importantly, for the well-being of my child," Kehlani said in her own statement. "Thank you for your support and for respecting our privacy. I will not be commenting further and will let the legal due process take place."
