The Jungle Cruise ride is going to be getting a new look after years of criticism about how the ride depicted indigenous people.
The ride is at Disneyland California along with Walt Disney World in Florida and was one of the last rides personally overseen by Walt Disney himself.
Although the ride was inspired by nature documentaries, it caused a lot of controversy over the scene of "natives," because people felt they were being depicted as wild, primitive and threatening.
Disney confirmed the changes will be a new animated skipper character and Carmen Smith, who is the creative development and inclusion strategies executive at Walt Disney Imagineering said, "as Imagineers, it is our responsibility to ensure experiences we create and stories we share reflect the voices and perspective of the world around us."
