Horse Killed After Fracturing Ankle While Training at Santa Anita


An ankle fracture has led to Natural History, the 4-year-old gelding to be euthanized. Making him the fourth racehorse to die while racing or training at Santa Anita since December 26th when the season opened.

Natural History was injured Saturday and the track shared on its website "Horse was transported for diagnostic examination and it was determined by the attending veterinarian to be an unrecoverable injury."

The horse was trained by Robert Hess Jr. and Natural History had two victories in 13 starts, finishing third at his most recent race December 27.
