This is a story that could have ended a lot worse if it wasn’t for a Riverside County Sherrif’s dispatcher. Meghan Gonzalez has been on the job for four years and received a call back in May that gave her a really weird feeling. So basically she received a call and nobody said anything. She was asking the caller to press a button if there was an emergency but the person hung up. So Meghan decided to listened to her instincts and was able to find the caller’s location and communicate through text. The victim responded that she had been bitten, beaten and was naked in the back of a truck but wasn’t sure her location. Meghan was able to locate the victim within 7 meters of the nearest cellular tower and on top of that she recognized a car sound that apparently all fords make when the car door is left open which helped pinpoint the car and save the victim.
For this Meghan was recognized with the Rapid Deploy "Superstar" award which honors those who have made a lifesaving impact and use of the Rapid Deploy technology.
